Chain reaction

I always worry about the lead shot falling on crops when I shoot pigeons then finding its way into the food chain. Will steel shot be safer?

Peter says: Certainly any crop destined for human consumption has to be entirely free from lead pellets. Our farmers would always stop us shooting over the pea crop once the pods started to form. Whether steel shot will present the same problem remains to be seen. Farmers are usually more concerned with plastic wads, which are harder to separate from the seed.
