**Momentum and how it affects the steel cartridges we can purchase in the UK is a critical topic. It has been under discussion by the CIP for some time. The restraints of the limits, originally set when the steel shot proof – with the fleur-de-lis symbol – and both Standard Steel and HP Steel cartridge specifications were set out, are now keenly felt by cartridge makers, especially now steel shot is supposed to apply far more widely than heavy loads of large shot in wildfowling loads.
