Tasks in hand

We have constructed a tower and it is on the ground ready for the doe season, which starts on 21 October in Scotland and 1 November in England and Wales. The last doe season was delayed due to coronavirus and we have increased the doe cull this time as a result. We will start immediately to try to get some numbers early in the season, in case the weather takes a turn for the worse. The doe cull is the most important cull to carry out if numbers need reducing and I hazard that most deer managers are in a similar position to us. Even though the cull has increased, we will be selective to ensure the population is fit and healthy for the future. I say this every year and will do so again: if you intend to take the doe and are in any doubt, take the kid first.
