Difficult question
Could you settle an argument for me? I was passing the time with a friend the other day about whether pigeon shooting was on a par with grouse shooting in terms of fast birds and exciting action. I said it was, but my friend disagreed. What do you think?
Peter says: I have watched early-season grouse shooting videos where you could knock them down with a tennis racket, but I have also seen late November birds coming down a 30mph wind that were virtually unshootable. The same applies to pigeons; birds that hover over the decoys being almost unmissable, compared with trying to shoot them coming into roost with a Force 10 gale behind them. Both birds are capable of presenting the most testing shooting, so it depends entirely on the circumstances.
