Gently does it
My ferrets often bite me when I handle them. What can I do to stop this?
Ed says: Handle them more. The more a ferret is handled, the better it will be. I have only had two or three ferrets that I couldn’t tame and these all had a good amount of wild polecat blood in them.
As unhandled ferrets get older, they become harder to tame, but it is still possible. An issue will be if you are a bit jittery around the ferrets and move your hands quickly to avoid being bitten. This in itself can trigger a ferret to bite, which is worsened by wearing gloves. Keep handling them, and be patient and gentle.
