EDITOR’S VERDICT
The Ultraleggero has been designed for a specific purpose and should be judged as such. So much attention to detail has been given to saving weight yet maintaining build quality and creating a gun that handles well. You might argue that further weight could have been saved by making the gun ribless and using fixed chokes. However, this would severely limit its market and the gun is light enough even with those features. Using modern technology and years of gunmaking experience, Beretta has produced a gun that is enjoyable to shoot and is not a dead weight in the field. I really like the Ultraleggero and I think it could take the place of the 20-bore for walked-up shooting. After all, you have all the advantages of a lightweight gun with the advantage of the larger calibre.
