Harkila heated waistcoat
Picture the scene. You’re planning a relaxing evening in your favourite high seat to wait for Bambi to make an appearance. There’s a snag, though – it’s winter and there’s a high chance the temperature will be hovering around zero. The only real solution is to wear as many clothes as possible and pray that a deer appears before hypothermia sets in.
However, there are a number of problems with this ‘solution’. What if there’s a long walk to your high seat that’s likely to raise a sweat? And what do you do when it’s time to gralloch and you’re wearing five longsleeved jumpers?
The Härkila heated waistcoat is the solution and when I first saw it I couldn’t believe that someone else hadn’t already come up with the idea.
The concept is simple, a normal softshell lightweight gilet, but with two electronic panels in the back section that warm up heating membranes sewn into the jacket. Temperature
The colour of the rubberised button will change to let you know which setting you have it on – either blue, orange or red as you progress through the temperature settings.

I was initially worried that I wouldn’t be able to operate the button if the waistcoat was buried underneath a coat, but there is a free Härkila app you can download on your phone which allows you to control its heat.
