Shotgun certificate delays update
Those looking to renew or apply for a new shotgun certificate are still facing delays of weeks, if not months, across the UK. However, pressure from lobbying groups seems to be having an effect.
Kent, Northamptonshire, Thames Valley and North Yorkshire police forces have now reportedly begun processing applications again, though shooters in these areas should still expect delays due to the backlog.
BASC is continuing to apply pressure both to police forces and MPs.
The organisation recently met with representatives from Dyfed-Powys Police after it received more than 80 inquiries from its members regarding poor licensing services in Mid Wales.
Following the meeting, Dr Richard Lewis, the chief constable of Dyfed-Powys, said that he would seek to “identify ways to improve the service”.
Meanwhile, the CPSA has looked to Laura Saunsbury, its honorary solicitor, for advice.
A blog post on the CPSA website explains the provision of an automatic eight-week certificate extension for those still waiting for their applications to be processed.
BASC has advised members who are facing difficulties to contact the association and their MPs to voice their concerns.
