Sporting Gun

Some questions and some answers

-

Sporting Gun seems smaller than some other magazines.

Shopfront has been taken out and put on the internet. Why? It was an interesting part of the magazine and one to read over a cup of tea. When I went on the internet there were only two adverts on there.

Also, in the Q&A section some of the questions are really debatable; are they really asked by readers?

As we transfer from lead to steel cartridges, what will happen to the lead cartridges that I have still got left? Will we get the money back or can we exchange them for steel?

The New Gear section is very good, but the gear is pricey for the average shooter, so why not have some cheaper gear as an alternative?

After 50 years in love with the outdoors I have seen nature at its best. But most of all it is the people I have shared this with, the quiet ones that go about feeding, planting and rebuilding good habitats and ask for no recognition or reward.

Garth Brewer, via email Ed says

– Garth, that’s an awful lot of questions, but they are good ones and I will endeavour to address each one.

Sporting Gun has a smaller format than some shooting magazines, but the actual amount of pages is more than our nearest competitor by 16 pages

We put Shopfront online because it is more readily updatable. At the moment it is free to advertise on there and there are only a handful of guns on there because we recently did a comprehensive makeover of the site and are starting from scratch again.

I can assure you that the questions we get in the Q&A section are all from readers. We make it anonymous so that people can ask what they want without fear or favour.

You can still use your lead shot for a few years yet before the blanket ban comes into effect, so hopefully you won’t have a surplus. I am glad you like the gear section. We usually try to pick items to suit all pockets, but we will keep that in mind for the next issue.
