DESCRIPTION
It’s said that the sport of simulated game was invented by Hugh Jones on the Brynmelin Estate more than 50 years ago. Today, Hugh’s grandson Richard continues his grandfather’s passion for recreating a variety of game in the most naturalistic way possible.
Great care is placed in the positioning of traps and Guns. Lines are positioned to take advantage of the stunning local scenery, while all traps are hidden from view to ensure a more authentic experience.
To further increase authenticity, Richard has developed his own target launching system, which ensures no clay ever follows the same flight path as the last. Richard and his team also enjoy challenging their Guns with exceptionally high-flying pheasant and other tricks designed to replicate the unpredictable nature of real game.
Of course, with several thousand clays launched on the average day, there will also be plenty of more approachable targets to tackle, with flushing low partridge and driven grouse all being well represented.
Rather than offering a specific calendar of events for its simulated offerings, Dovey Valley arranges days as and when required. Recently, the estate has seen an increase in bookings, with up to four days being organised each week over the past year.
By continuing to offer an authentic shoot experience, Richard and his team are continuing in the steps of their forefathers. However, by developing their own methodologies and unique target management systems, they’re still evolving the sport of sim shooting.
