One can only hope that Vladimir Putin’s actions over the past couple of months have removed the rosetinted glasses from our eco-warriors and other useful idiots. Perhaps it is time to stop planting trees and building houses on good fertile ground and highly productive floodplains.
We have seen what happened to the world price of wheat when the Russian tanks started to roll into Ukraine. It has become very expensive and that has a knock-on effect on many other foodstuffs. We need to become more self-sufficient in many ways, not least in energy and food. We have highly nutritional, homeproduced meat – and game plays a big part in this, with our substantial source of venison, woodpigeons, copiously available from necessary management, and other meat, such as pheasant.
Our politicians need to recognise what is in front of them and help to evolve our beautiful country into a self-supporting, nature-friendly United Kingdom.
