All the fun of the fair

Get two free tickets to The Game Fair and come and see us on our stand

The Game Fair at Ragley Hall is set to be one of the best yet. The three-day event, running from 29 to 31 July, will showcase all the things we love about the country and will celebrate our many country pursuits, both new and old.

This year, for the first time ever, Sporting Gun readers get two free tickets worth up to £70 in total when they subscribe to the magazine before the event. See page 16 for details.

If you already have tickets, then you can still get a great deal when you subscribe at the event. You can save up to £27.76 on a subscription and get a free pair of House of Cheviot shooting socks or a bottle of sloe or damson gin. Just make your way to Gunmakers’ Row and look for stand J291.

Being one of the premier country shows on the British social calendar, there is plenty to see and do at The Game Fair. This year, celebrity chef James Martin and former England cricketer Matt Prior will show off their dog-handling skills with leading gundog trainer Jason Mayhew during a oneoff display in the main arena. Alongside this there will be falconry displays, terrier racing, scurry driving and mounted games.

Another firm favourite at The Game Fair is the gourmet food on offer. Following the gundog display, James will hotfoot it from the main arena to present the Gourmet Gathering on the INEOS Grenadier stand. Songwriter and pop star turned farmer JB Gill will be cooking up a storm in the BASC Wild Food Theatre, and you can even wake up to breakfast from the Yorkshire Shepherdess, Amanda Owen, where she will give her take on the most important meal of the day.

If you want to hear debates about the state of the countryside and shooting, head to The Game Fair Theatre, where the ever-jovial Charlie Jacoby from Fieldsports Channel will be debating and scrutinising all the hot topics of the day.

Competitive shooters can make their way to the clay line where there will be Clay Pigeon Shooting Association-registered competitions, so make sure you bring your gun along. For those who want to get into shooting, there will be have-a-go stands where novices can get their first taste of clay shooting, all organised by the renowned EJ Churchill Shooting Ground and sporting agency.

Other experiential activities include fishing, airgunning, archery and traditional crafts. You can also take your off-road driving to the next level with a 4x4 experience courtesy of Isuzu and Subaru.

Don’t forget, there will be a shopping village where you can upgrade your gun, treat yourself to that new shooting coat or grab a new fishing rod at a bargain price.

Of course, it wouldn’t be The Game Fair without you, our wonderful readers, so we hope you come to see us on Gunmakers’ Row at stand J291.
