NIGHT VISION DEMO EVENING
I had a very busy autumn shooting foxes. It seemed worse than any other year; they just kept turning up – or has it always been the same? In the past, I would lamp until I started to blank or I felt I would do more harm than good, scaring the birds with the light, or driving through them.
This year I’ve been using night vision (NV) and the difference with NV is that if you just go and sit and wait, with the wind in your face, you will see what you have on your place and most of the time get them. The scope and spotter I use are at the lower end of the market in terms of price, but I have had so much success with them. So, no, I think perhaps it has always been the same, it’s just that this year I am able to keep shooting them.
Recently, I attended a night vison demo evening with Thomas Jacks and my local gun shop Greenfields. Thomas Jacks are running these all over the country. If you are thinking of going over to NV, I would highly recommend getting along to one of them – it will give you a chance to test the products and get expert advice on how to use them. Similarly, if you are thinking of upgrading, the demo evenings give you a chance to see the difference between what you have and what else is out there. I was very impressed.
