The Ling fam­ily are swiftly be­com­ing a clay shoot­ing force to be reck­oned with… or per­haps feared if you hap­pen to come up against them at com­pe­ti­tion! Af­ter the pair nar­rowly missed out on a medal at the Gold Coast Com­mon­wealth Games back in April, both com­ing fourth in their re­spec­tive classes, they have re­turned to the UK in fine form and are mak­ing their pres­ence felt.

At the English Open ABT, held at By­well Shoot­ing Ground on 20 May, the fam­ily dom­i­nated al­most ev­ery cat­e­gory.

Ed took the High Gun hon­ours af­ter shoot­ing a mind-blow­ing 200 straight, three tar­gets ahead of his clos­est ri­val Tony Coul­stock, while Abbey re­tained her Ladies ti­tle on 189, also three points ahead of run­ner-up Mary Row­ley.

Ed’s younger brother Theo shot a su­perb 195 to com­fort­ably take the Ju­nior ti­tle, while their father Steve just missed out on the Vet­eran ti­tle to Nigel Col­lis by one clay, nar­rowly miss­ing a Ling clean sweep. The full re­sults can be found here:
