Musical duo set to perform at Parish Room at the end month
MUSICAL duo Paul Walker and Karen Pfeiffer are to perform at Broughton Parish Room, Wetwood on Saturday April, 27 from 7.30 pm.
A spokesperson said: “Paul and Karen are a charming Anglo-German duo based in Staffordshire – in this very locality, even – and if you haven’t heard them performing before, you are in for a treat.
“They have toured their shows extensively, taking in New Zealand, Australia, Germany, Ireland and most corners of the UK, wooing audiences with Karen’s southern German accent tinged with an ‘oatcake induced’ North Staffordshire dialect from Paul’s heritage.
“Their show ‘Auf Wiedersehen, Me Duck’ was a huge success at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe.
“With their unique onstage chemistry and widely praised harmonies, they combine their own beautifully written songs with imaginatively arranged traditional and contemporary folk favourites. Paul’s vocal and guitar style and calm geniality blend with Karen’s clear powerful voice, woodwind accompaniments and natural theatricality to produce a great and memorable musical performance.”

As well as being happy to stage a gig in their own village hall for a change from globetrotting, Paul and Karen have very kindly offered to put this one on to help raise some funds for Broughton Tennis Club. The previously held annual fund-raising concerts staged through the Live & Local rural touring arts organisation appear to have come to an end.
There will be a bar on the night from 7pm plus tea, coffee and biscuits in the interval. The performance starts at 7.30 pm and tickets priced at £10/adults and £6/ under-16s will be available from Judy Thompstone (01630 673104) and Louise Butter (01630 620479).
