Women in impressive show of support for charity

-

MEMBERS of Soroptimist International of Stafford have donated 800 bras to charity Kids Club Kampala.

Members, relatives, friends, neighbours and gym club members all contributed.

Based in Birmingham, Kids Club Kampala supports more than 300,000 people living in 12 slum communities in Kampala, the capital of Uganda.

It aims to empower children and families to thrive and survive through the projects it runs to improve their futures through feeding, protecting, educating and skilling.

The charity became aware that many women and girls did not wear bras and research has shown that not wearing a bra can lead to increased risks of sexual harassment and rape.

Women and girls not wearing bras are classed as not respectable. When wearing their bras they become classed as respectable and are therefore safer.

The 800 bras will make a real positive difference to the lives of vulnerable women and girls.

Soroptimist International is a global voice for women, helping women and girls towards a better life for themselves and their families

Every year, Soroptimists transform the lives of more than half a million women and girls worldwide.
