THRILL-seeking families can enjoy a sleepover with a difference, camping out as part of Explorer Glamping, the latest experience at Chessington World of Adventures.

It’s a pitch-perfect way to add something extra to a trip to the theme park, not least as it offers exclusive access to the Wild Asia section of the park after all the other visitors have gone home. This gives you the opportunity to ride attractions such as Kobra or Tuk Tuk Turmoil to your heart’s content.

Glamping – or glamorous camping – offers the adventure of an outdoor experience but with home comforts like proper beds and snug duvets, carpeting and wi-fi.

The Explorer tents at Chessington also come fitted with wooden flooring and electricity, with a double bed and two singles as standard.

There are four premium tents on site available with a king-size bed, separate second sleeping area with three single beds and additional living space with a table and chairs.

The furnishings inside each tent are all themed to heighten the ‘explorer’ experience, adding to the fun for little adventurers. Walkways of hessian carpet around the site and a multitude of lights mean there’s no drama if a late-night trip to the loo block is required, either. It’s all designed to give a taste of what it would be like to go on a safari – but Surrey-style. After all, you’re here for fun – there’s no sense in roughing it. The Explorer camp has a central community area where kids can use the outdoor games, plus a Reception tent with tea, coffee and friendly staff should you need anything else.

The Glamping experience also allows you access to the Chessington Resort Hotel facilities such as the Savannah Splash Pool, gym and Ranger Club evening entertainment, although you will need to travel to the hotel to track these down.

A hot buffet breakfast at the Explorer Outpost restaurant is included in the stay, which will provide with you with the necessary energy for a day at the park. This is particularly important as the Explorer Glamping package comes with golden wristband Fastrack passes, which will see you jump to the front of the queue on all rides for the first hour of the day.

With more than 40 rides and attractions in 10 themed lands, a Zoo and Sea Life centre, plus daily live shows and seasonal events, Chessington offers a world of fun and excitement for the whole family to enjoy.
