Woman’s bid to reunite items found in an alley with owner
A WOMAN is trying to find the owner of dozens of pieces of silverware found dumped in an alley in Sunbury.
The haul, which includes goblets, cutlery and plates, was discovered scattered all over the ground by a passer by in April.
Dawn Groves, 33, had been walking back to her car through the service road behind the shops in Staines Road West at the time.
“I looked down in the rain and saw what looked like silverware scattered across in front of me,” she said.
“You get broken bottles and all sorts of rubbish in that road but this didn’t seem right at all.
“I thought I can’t leave it all there. It just looked like someone had stolen it all and realised it wasn’t proper silver or was running from the police and dumped it.”
Miss Groves collected up the items in a bag and took them home before calling the police. Officers arrived and collected the items, which included cake knives and tea spoons.
