New theatre school opens
A BRAND new Stagecoach part- time theatre school is opening in Fleet offering classes in dance, drama and singing.
The school, which is run by principal Danica Pickett is being held at Courtmoor School on Saturdays.
Alongside her role at Stagecoach, Danica also works as a West End agent and casting director.
She currently has clients in most shows in the West End.
She said: “I’m really excited about working with young people in Fleet, as part of the performing arts community.
“As a former professional performer myself, I know what a brilliant, helpful and rewarding thing it can be to do as a young person.”
The skills that students learn at Stagecoach are designed to be not just suitable for a career on the stage, but can have a massively positive impact on their lives in lots of ways.
Students are able to develop the creative courage to unlock their potential, to stand up and be heard, to work well with other students and to embrace new ideas and possibilities.
Danica said: “As they hone their new skills and work together to devise and rehearse performances, students become more self- assured, expressive, sociable and imaginative.
“All skills that will serve them well on the stage of life and help them to tackle new situations with resilience, creativity and courage.”
Classes run during school term time ( September 17 to December 3 2016). There will be a free taster session on the September 10 at Court Moor School.
