Penny opened up her studio in Odiham as an opportunity for people to meet her and Lucy, view demonstrations, browse artwork and take part in creative workshops.

Lucy, who lives in Fleet, said: “When Penny suggested that we take part in Surrey Artists’ Open Studios we discussed fundraising for a charity and chose CLIC Sargent as we know how tirelessly they work for children and young people with cancer and their families. Visitors to the studio were invited to help themselves to homemade cakes, teas and coffees in return for a donation to CLIC Sargent.

“Taking part in Surrey Artists’ Open Studios was a lovely opportunity to chat to visitors, and share my passion for working with paper and textiles.”

Liz Blunt, fundraising engagement manager for Hampshire, CLIC Sargent, said: “It was wonderful to visit the studio in Odiham and enjoy Penny and Lucy’s art.

“Some of my friends and myself also fitted in a walk around the surrounding beautiful countryside, followed by tea and cake. Art and cake while fundraising was a winning combination. A huge thank you to Penny and Lucy for raising vitally needed funds for CLIC Sargent.

“The money they raised can pay for a family to stay for free for nine nights in our homely accommodation in CLIC Haven so they can be close to loved ones.”
