Pro­gres­sive ten­nis club courts tal­ent with ace sum­mer camp

There is plenty go­ing on dur­ing the sum­mer at the club, which is cur­rently hav­ing two of its courts resur­faced thanks to an award of £ 20,000 from The Lon­don Marathon Char­i­ta­ble Trust.

The up­grade, which is ex­pected to be fin­ished by the end of this month, will cre­ate all- weather courts al­low­ing club mem­bers and the lo­cal com­mu­nity to en­joy bet­ter ten­nis fa­cil­i­ties all year round.

Ten­nis club chair­man Neil Dodge, said: “This in­vest­ment is fan­tas­tic news for our play­ers and lo­cal peo­ple.

“Club mem­ber­ship has grown sig­nif­i­cantly over the last cou­ple of years.

“This grant is a tremen­dous help to­wards our long- term im­prove­ment plan and our com­mit­ment to en­sur­ing we have top- class fa­cil­i­ties for our play­ers.”

The club plans to cel­e­brate the re- open­ing of the resur­faced courts with a fam­ily fun day on Sun­day Oc­to­ber 8.

The ten­nis club, which cov­ers Bagshot and its sur­round­ing area, of­fers ju­nior lessons for ages four to 18 that run dur­ing school terms.

There are nearly 150 ju­niors now play­ing at the club, many of them ris­ing stars.

Emma Goodacre, one of the top- rated young­sters in Sur­rey, is coached by the Jet Ten­nis team of Ja­son Jokhoo and Megan Em­mett.

She also trains reg­u­larly at the Na­tional Ten­nis Cen­tre, where she re­cently met Andy Mur­ray.
