Builders of LMS No 5551 The Unknown Warrior, the LMS-Patriot Project is well known for quality merchandise across the range, and not least its calendar of LMS locomotives, which for 2022 features the ‘Patriot’, ‘Duchess’ and ‘Princess Royal’ classes of the LMS, a natural combination given that the project is working in partnership with the Princess Royal Class Locomotive Trust, not least in its engineering activities.

The calendar layout is long established in its format, so will be well known to many, being easy to read and presented as a block layout of dates, and importantly big enough to make useful notes on each day but not too big so as to be impractical in a limited space. As ever, the roster of artists is impressive – John Austin FGRA, David Halliwell (associate member of the GRA), Kevin Alun Parrish GRA, Philip D Hawkins FGRA, Colin Wright (associate member of the GRA), J R Markland, Michael Greenwood GRA, Tom E Holland – and their techniques, chosen subjects and compositions, often in emotive lighting, offer plenty of variety as each month is revealed – ‘One Last Look’ when you turn to February is certainly charming, whilst others, of course, emphasise the power of the various locomotives, and famous trains and locations will doubtless spark happy memories.
