In associatio­n with the Railway Touring Company, Steam Railway has negotiated the exclusive use of seats in the first available coach adjacent to the locomotive on at least one leg of the ‘WINTER CUMBRIAN COAST EXPRESS’ from Euston to Carlisle (via Whitehaven) on, March 4 and 25, as well as the ‘CUMBRIAN MOUNTAIN EXPRESS’ (via the Settle & Carlisle) on April 22, May 13, 20 and July 15. The excursions are booked to leave London at 7.10am, behind electric traction, calling at Milton Keynes, Rugby, Nuneaton and Crewe. Steam haulage from Carnforth is booked with LMS 4-6-0 No. 46115 Scots Guardsman. There is a two-hour stay in Carlisle, before returning to the capital at 10.05pm. The ‘CUMBRIAN MOUNTAIN EXPRESS’ also heads for Carlisle, but via the reopened S&C. The trains are booked to leave Euston at 7.10am, calling at Milton Keynes, Rugby, Nuneaton and Crewe. Steam haulage is booked with 4-6-0 No. 45690 Leander, 4-6-2 No. 46233 Duchess of Sutherland or 4-6-2 No. 70013 Oliver Cromwell. There’s a two-hour stay in Carlisle, returning to London at 10.05pm. Tickets for the ‘WINTER CUMBRIAN COAST EXPRESS’ and ‘CUMBRIAN MOUNTAIN EXPRESS’ cost £109 Standard (£76 children), which includes reserved seats. The Premier Dining price is £249 (£175 junior), and First Class £159 (£112). Tables for two cost £22 extra per person, and discounts for families are available.
