Five kerr stuarts at stanhope centenary
Five Kerr Stuart locomotives gathered to celebrate the centenary of resident ‘Tattoo’ 0-4-2ST Stanhope at the Apedale Valley Light Railway on May 13/14. In action were the AVLR’s resident ‘Joffre’ 0-6-0T, ‘Wren’ 0-4-0STs from the Amerton and Statfold Barn Railways and Phil Mason’s Bala Lake Railway-based ‘Sirdar’ 0-4-0T Diana, which is also celebrating its centenary this year. Although visitor numbers were lower than for the AVLR’s ‘Tracks to the Trenches’ events, a Moseley Railway Trust official told Steam Railway that the trust was satisfied with the gate receipts. The MRT used the event to launch a book about Stanhope, written by MRT chairman Phil Robinson. It is priced at £17.95.
