• DIANA ON TOUR Kerr Stuart ‘Sirdar’ 0-4-0T Diana is a short-notice addition to the Amerton Railway steam gala on June 24/25. It brings the steam roster up to five, with Peckett 0-6-0ST Liassic and Avonside 0-4-0T Marchlyn visiting from the Statfold Barn Railway. • BALA DONATION Following an £85,000 gift to buy land for its new terminus in Bala (SR466), the Bala Lake Railway has received another donation to buy the derelict warehouse it needs. After being checked for asbestos, the building will be demolished and the area landscaped. • CAERNARFON BREAK-IN The Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway lost around £1,000 when the booking office at Caernarfon was burgled during the night of May 3/4. The F&WHR has revised its security arrangemen­ts and hopes that CCTV images will help police track down the culprit. • GOLDEN CARRIAGE No. 119, the first of the Golden Valley Light Railway’s ex-Ffestiniog steel-bodied carriages, is expected to enter service this year. Built in 1980 on an Isle of Man Railways underframe, it has been mounted on South African bogies and its couplings altered. • AUSTRIA TO TYNEDALE The South Tynedale Railway has imported a carriage from the 760mm gauge Austrian Mariazelle­rbahn for use as a works car. No. 4240 has been re-gauged and refurbishe­d in Romania.
