DRAGONFLIES AT EXBURY
TV presenter Dan Snow opened Dragonfly Halt on the Exbury Gardens Railway, Hampshire, on April 11. A section of the 12¼in gauge railway has been realigned to take a slightly longer route around a pond, which is expected to attract dragonflies once the resident fish have been removed. The deviation was funded by the sale of railwayana collected by the late Leopold de Rothschild who created the railway, which opened in 2001. The section of railway closest to the main station is also targeted for realignment, to ease the gradient faced by departing trains.
