SRPS CONFIRMS ‘BORDERS’ DATES

-

The Scottish Railway Preservation Society has confirmed dates (August 5, 12, 19 and 26) and prices for its summer ‘Waverley Route’ trips. Fares follow the organisation’s policy of ensuring the cash raised per coach is the same, regardless of class. So, Standard from Linlithgow and Fife (including the Forth Bridge) costs £82, while from Edinburgh it’s £62. First Class fares are £124 and £93 respectively. Those prices work through from the fact that a Tourist Second Open Mk 1 has 64 seats, while a First Open has 48. Pick-ups are Linlithgow, Dunfermline Town, Kirkcaldy, Dalgety Bay and Edinburgh Waverley, before the train runs over the Borders line to Tweedbank. The SRPS is also taking the chance of having Leander accessible to run two ‘Forth Circulars’ on April 21, the day after No. 45690 is expected to arrive in Edinburgh on the ‘Great Britain’ together with Galatea.
