BALA STATION SITE CLEARED

-

The asbestos-contaminated derelict building on the site of the Bala Lake Railway’s proposed terminus in Bala was demolished in March. The work was carried out by specialist local contractors recommended by a member. With the site cleared, it is being used to store track materials obtained for the extension. Turnouts have been acquired from the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway. Previously at Killington Lane, the LBR has installed new points there that can accommodate the new-build Baldwin 2-4-2T Lyn. The BLR will require planning permission for the proposed extension and station and may need a Transport and Works Act Order to route the line over the B4391 road bridge over the River Dee as anticipated.
