A Second World War trench, built as part of the defences against German invasion in 1940, has been excavated and restored at the East Kent Railway, complete with replica anti-tank defences and ‘child-friendly’ barbed wire. Metal detectoris­ts found cap badges, bullet casings, mugs and cutlery.
