ALAN KEEF SEEKS EXPANSION AS WORKLOAD GROWS
Busy with work for narrow gauge railways and locomotive owners, Ross-on-Wye-based Alan Keef Ltd is expanding its premises on two fronts. It has already established a second site at nearby Mitcheldean, where carpentry and other ‘clean work’ will be carried out. Over the winter an extension will be constructed at the company’s main site.
Work in progress during the company’s annual open day on September 22 included the Isle of Man Steam Railway’s Beyer, Peacock 2-4-0T No. 11 Maitland, the Corris Railway’s new-build Hughes 0-4-2ST and the Cavan & Leitrim Railway’s former ironstone railway Avonside 0-6-0T Nancy (see Irish News). Trains on the demonstration line were operated by Patrick Keef’s Bagnall 0-4-0ST Woto and Nick Williams’ Barclay 0-4-0T Jack.
