SLEEPER APPEAL

Although much of the existing track is usable, about 360 wooden sleepers need replacing at four locations, and the PWRS has begun two fund-raising appeals.

A ‘Sponsor a Sleeper’ appeal has been launched by the crew at Thornton station, while a ‘Bridge the Gap’ fund has been set up by the team at the Fleetwood end.

Fleetwood Tram Preservation Society has donated track and concrete sleepers, enabling the Jameson Road team, led by volunteer Peter Williams, to start bridging the gap in the track from when the rail was severed.
