BURN NAZE
Burn Naze, which had been virtually invisible beneath the mass of foliage, is taking on the appearance of a small country station (which it never was, having served the huge ICI works at Thornton).
Platform gates have been installed, along with a temporary mess room in a portable building.
The biggest job has been resurfacing the platform using paving stones donated by the nearby Cala Gran Holiday Park. Part of the Up platform has been cleared to build a pathway up from the barrow crossing to the NPL Estates boundary fence. NPL, which took over the old ICI site, is sponsoring the station’s restoration.
●● The PWRS has placed a memorial at Burn Naze’s station viewing area to honour employees of ICI Thornton who died in the two world wars.
