In the lat­est phase of its ‘Op­er­a­tion Un­der­cover’ project, the Blue­bell Rail­way aims to raise £250,000 for its Horsted Keynes car­riage shed.

Dubbed the ‘Wall to Wall’ ap­peal, it will fund the cladding of the ex­ter­nal walls (the steel frame hav­ing been erected – see also SR475) and fit­ting-out of the Her­itage Skills Cen­tre.

A bene­fac­tor is pro­vid­ing match-fund­ing for do­na­tions up to £100,000 re­ceived by mid­night on Novem­ber 30. ●● An­other ma­jor Blue­bell un­der­tak­ing came to fruition on Oc­to­ber 19 when the ‘Ac­ces­si­ble Steam Her­itage’ lo­co­mo­tive ex­hi­bi­tion at Sh­effield Park shed was of­fi­cially opened by An­drew Bless­ley, South East Com­mit­tee Mem­ber for the Her­itage Lot­tery Fund, which sup­ported the project with a £1.1m grant.


‘SteamWorks!’ at Sh­effield Park is now open to the pub­lic.
