COACH WORK CONTINUES APACE

-

Construction of the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway observation carriage at the Ffestiniog Railway’s Boston Lodge works has made visible progress, with the bodyshell moving into the paint shop in October. Bogie wheelsets have been delivered and construction of the first of three matching closed carriages has been started.

To make space for them, the 15in gauge Cumbrian line is seeking new homes for the four vehicles that will be displaced.

Meanwhile, Boston Lodge is making another carriage underframe for the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway and has started work on a South Africanstyle bogie wagon narrow enough to use in works trains on the FR.
