Andrew Barclay ‘Austerity’ 0-6-0ST WPR No. 15 (Works No. 2183 of 1945): One of only three surviving Barclay-built ‘Austeritie­s’ (the others being ex-BR ‘J94s’ Nos. 68077 and 68078) this ex-Wemyss Private Railway locomotive is now owned by Andrew Goodman and undergoing boiler repairs at the Vale of Berkeley Railway. A new firebox tubeplate has been made by the South Devon Railway.

Andrew Barclay 0-4-0ST Bon Accord (Works No. 807

of 1897): The boiler of this ex-Aberdeen Gas Works locomotive left the Royal Deeside Railway in early November for a ‘ten-yearly’ overhaul at Locomotive Services Ltd in Loughborou­gh. The boiler is expected to return to Scotland early in the New Year.

Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0T NCB No. 38 (Works No. 1823 of 1949): Work on the restoratio­n of this ‘Cornist’ class engine has restarted at the Tanfield Railway. In early November, a working party concentrat­ed on the spring hangers and brake gear, and a start has been made on a pattern for new axleboxes, with the immediate aim of re-wheeling the frames. Peckett 0-6-0ST Works No. 2000 of 1942: The former sugar industry ‘B3’ class locomotive returned to its base at Barrow Hill to haul Halloween train rides on October 27, having been on hire to Beamish.
