Riley RailtouRs looks to Run moRe tRains

Britain’s newest promoter is looking to run more tours in 2019, after a Settle-Carlisle and Shap debut with double-headed ‘Black Fives’ on November 10 (see picture, page 110). Still to come from Ian Riley Railtours in 2018 is a similar spin with Flying Scotsman on December 22.

Ian Riley said in November that discussions were taking place with operator West Coast Railways about the idea of organising a trip around Easter time, then more in the autumn after the close of the ‘Jacobite’ season; the ‘Fives’ in Riley’s care generally form the backbone of motive power for WCR’s Fort William-Mallaig trains, for which the next season starts on April 19.
