THE THIRD ‘COUNTY’

-

With the launch of the Churchward County Trust, all but one of the projects in the ‘Three Counties Agreement’ are under way. The exception is the Churchward ‘County’ 4-4-2T scheme which, under the agreement, was to have been built by Vale of Glamorgan Council at Barry.

GWS Chairman Richard Croucher says:

“The plan was that the people at Barry would tackle that one through John Buxton (Vale of Glamorgan Railway). The majority of the donor parts were to come from No. 4115, in particular the cab, bunker and tanks, plus the trailing truck. The boiler could also be reused but it has been lent to No. 6634.”

Nothing more has been heard of the ‘County’ tank project, and understands the scheme is now in abeyance.
