New firebox for golden Valley Orenstein

-

The boiler from Golden Valley Railway, Butterley-based Orenstein & Koppel 0-6-0WT No. 7529 has been sent to the North Norfolk Railway’s Weybourne works, where a new inner firebox will be made and installed. The replacement firebox will be steel, instead of copper, as originally built.

Built for use in a French sand quarry in 1914, No. 7529 was preserved in 1967.

From 1973-1995, it was stored at the Cadeby Light Railway, where the late Colin Pealling, its previous owner, claimed he steamed it once.
