Kidbrooke set for Apedale and threlkeld galas

-

Yaxham Light Railwaybased Bagnall 0-4-0ST Works No. 2043 Kidbrooke will be making a rare sojourn away from its Norfolk home when it attends the Threlkeld Quarry and Apedale Valley Light railways’ galas.

The 1917-built locomotive will be one of four visiting locomotives attending the Cumbrian quarry and mining museum’s annual steam gala on July 27/28, in addition to 2005-built ‘Quarry Hunslet’ 0-4-0ST Jack Lane, Kerr, Stuart ‘Wren’ 0-4-0ST Works No. 3128 ‘Roger’ and Peckett 0-6-0ST Works No. 1632 Liassic from the Statfold Barn Railway. The gala will also unite Kidbrooke with fellow, Threlkeldbased, Bagnall 0-4-0ST Works No. 2135 Sir Tom.

Kidbrooke will continue its extended trip away from Norfolk by visiting the Apedale Valley Light Railway on September 21/22, for the 50th anniversary of the Moseley Railway Trust.

The visits to both railways act as something of a farewell tour for Kidbrooke, as its ‘ten-year’ boiler certificate expires in October.
