HOW TO GET THERE
BY CAR Tenterden Town station is situated just off the High Street (A28) in the centre of the town. It is approximately 12 miles from Ashford (M20, Junction 9). Car parking is extensive and free to passengers (satnav users should use postcode TN30 6HE).
There is also ample free parking available at Northiam, which can be found approximately seven miles further south of Tenterden on the A28, a mile north of the village centre. The postcode here is TN31 6QT. Travellers to Northiam from West Kent or South London are advised to take the A21 to Flimwell, and then follow the A268 through Hawkshurst to Northiam. Bodiam station has no public parking but National Trust members may park free of charge at the nearby castle.
BY BUS Tenterden can be reached from Ashford International via the No. 2 or 2A bus, Maidstone (No. 12), Headcorn (Nos. 12 and 12RL), Tunbridge Wells (No. 297) and Hastings (No. 340). Northiam can be reached from Hastings via the No. 2 service. We recommend checking routes and times with service providers, currently Stagecoach and Arriva, as services may change periodically.
BY TRAIN To reach the railway, take the train to Ashford, Headcorn or Hastings and transfer by bus, via services outlined above.
Ashford can be reached from St Pancras (High Speed 1), from Charing Cross and Victoria. Trains for Headcorn and Hastings also depart from Charing Cross, while Hastings can also be accessed from Victoria.
Fares
Online booking is advised and offers a small discount on single fares and a whole £5 off a family ticket. Freedom (Rover) Tickets cost £19.50 for adults, £13.50 for children and a great value £49.00 for a family (two adults with two children, or one adult with three).
Compartments for up to eight people are available on a number of services for a supplementary charge of £8.
