Great Northern Railwayana Auctions has announced that its next main sale will return to a live-in-the-room event – their first since the Covid lockdown was announced in 2020.

The sale on Saturday April 1 is to be held at Poynton Leisure Centre, Yew Tree Lane, Poynton (near Stockport) SK12 1PU. Full details of how to get there, plus contact information, is available on its website (https://gnrauctions.co.uk).

Viewing of lots is available on the day from 7.15am with the auction itself starting at 10.15am. There is seating for 200 at the venue and facilities will include a catering van.

On its website, GNRA said: “We are really looking forward to seeing everybody back in the room. Thank you to all our customers and vendors for supporting us throughout lockdown, we are extremely grateful.”

Items are currently being accepted by GNRA.

The auction house has announced that owing to rising costs it has had no option but to increase the buyers’ premium to 15% (flat) with no VAT.

GNRA’s 500-lot Alpha Sale, held between January 21 and February 4 2023, was held online.

While most of the specialist railwayana auctions are continuing with the online auction format, some of the general auction companies have already returned to in-the-room sales.

One such auction house is TW Gaze, based in Diss, Norfolk, that has a railwayana section as part of its Blyth Barn Furniture and Rural Bygones sale on Tuesday February 14. Details of lots in this sale will be featured prior to the auction on the company’s website. W:
