- with David Brown Railwayana gems to pique any collector’s interest – David scours the classifieds so you don’t have to...

GW Railwayana Auction’s first main Railway Memorabilia & Railwayana live online auction will be held on the weekend of March 16‑17, with a large choice of items from around the UK.

As usual, the GWR is well represented and there will doubtless be great interest in the nameplate from No. 6028 King George VI. Other options include Brocket Hall, Builth Castle, Butleigh Court, Earl Baldwin, Goodrich Castle, Hardwick Grange, Knight of the Bath, Melmerby Hall and

Tudor Grange. Also included is an oval brass cabside combined number and nameplate from Brasenose 3321, built at Swindon in November 1899.

It isn’t just about GWR ‘Kings’ – a further choice is the ’plate from

King Edward VII (GCR 259, LNER 5259). Another ‘Hunt’ fox emblem appears with The Berkeley ex‑62754.

From Scotland there’s a

Dumbiedykes splasher‑style name from 62427. There are also plates from Lord James of Douglas (62687) and Luckie Mucklebackit (62678).

A Southern nameplate on offer will be ‘King Arthur’ class Sir Sagramore, ex‑30771.

With the continued interest in BR enamel station totem signs, it is interesting to see several examples in this sale coming round again after a lengthy absence from the salerooms.

Among the returning totems from BR(E) are Killamarsh Central, King’s Cross and Weybourne – representing very different locations – BR(NE) Whitby Town, BR(W) Paddington, BR(M) Lancaster Gate and Windermere.

If you’d like a Norfolk & Suffolk Joint Railway Captain’s Chair (ex‑Wroxham), there’s one here – also a piece of N&S carpet – and an M&GN fireplace fender – ideal for your railway room.

This sale also includes a good selection of clocks, enamel and cast iron signs, shedplates and worksplates, posters, locomotive and signalling items.
