Gala fundraiser A prize bingo event in aid of gala funds will be held in the Foresters Arms lounge bar at 7.30pm tonight (Wednesday). Entry is £1 (children 50p). Donations, of prizes or cash, are welcomed and can be handed in to Kirstie at the Foresters. The gala will be held on June 20 this year. Bruce Memorial Church Sunday worship led by minister Rev Graham Nash is at 11am where the baptism of James Clark will be celebrated The series in the book of Ruth, Prayer: Does it make any difference, continues on Mondays at 10am in the church hall and Wednesdays at 7.30pm in the church. Coffee morning tomorrow (Thursday) from 10amnoon and enjoy a chat and the best home baking for miles around. Councillor’s Surgery Councillor Christine Simpson will be in the community centre on Tuesday, June 16 at 6.30pm.

Gala This year’s gala will be held on Saturday, June 20 in the public park. The Royal Party has been selected and the fancy dress parade leaves the community centre around 12.25pm. All children are welcome to enter while adults are also welcome to get dressed up. Registrati­on for the event takes place from 11.50am-12.05pm and this will be followed by judging and prizes will be awarded at the Crowning Ceremony. The Parade will be led by The Balaclava Pipe Band. This year’s VIPS are Mr Robert TrevisSmit­h, Mrs Elizabeth Douglas, Mr Alisdair Douglas and Mrs Sheila Webster. Mrs May Grahamslaw will crown the queen. On offer in the park will be burgers, beer tent, various stalls, fairground rides. On centre stage will be local karate club demonstrat­ions, Dawn Fraser School of Highland Dancing and Heather Shrimpton Dancers from Alloa and Stirling Dance Academy. The latter part of the afternoon will host a mini- Big Widstock with performers still to be confirmed. The Gala Minibeast Walk takes place on Monday, June 15. Meet at the primary school for a 6pm start. All welcome. This will be led by Robert Trevis-Smith. All children must be accompanie­d by an adult.The fancy dress Ladies Cycle Run takes place on Wednesday, June 17. Judging takes places at 7.30pm; meet at the community centre for a cycle run around the village and afterwards to the pub where there will be a quiz etc. All ladies welcome, even if you just cycle a short distance. Anyone who would like a stall at the Gala, please get in touch with Margaret. The gala committee is always desperate for help on Gala Day, so please get in touch if you can help, particular­ly with the setting

up and clearing away.
