Commonwealth star drops in to watch
Record numbers took part in the annual Stirling Primary Schools Athletics Championships at Stirling University when 330 children from 33 local primary schools contested various track and field disciplines.
Five championship records were set during a fantastic day of sport, organised by Active Stirling’s Athletics Development Officer Alison Grey and delivered by Active Stirling’s Sports Development team, supported by Central Athletics Club.
Commonweath Games long jumper Jade Nimmo and Provost Mike Robbins were in attendance to pass on tips and present prizes to the children.
Results: Boys 80m - 1 Barry Hepburn (Cowie Primary); 2 Logan Downie (Beaconhurst School); 3 Harris Almass ( Dunblane). Girls 80m - 1 Emma Wilkes (Killearn); 2 Emily Corrigan (Strathblane); 3 Lucy More (Aberfoyle).
Boys 150m - 1 Lucas Williamson ( Riverside); 2 Euan Wond ( Beaconhurst School); 3 George Gornall (Our Lady’s). Girls 150m - 1 Jessica Turnbull (St Ninians); 2 Rosanna Savoury ( Dunblane); 3 Leisha Curruth (Strathblane).
Boys 600m - 1 Cameron Blance (Bridge of Allan); 2 Callum Byrne ( Killearn); 3 Sandy Buchanan ( Cambusbarron). Girls 600m - 1 Amy Kirkpartick (Balfron); 2 Katie Burr ( Killearn); 3 Carrie Banks (Beaconhurst School).
Boys Relay - 1 Riverside PS; 2 Bridge of Allan PS; 3 Queen Victoria School. Girls Relay - 1 Newton PS; 2 Dunblane PS; 3 St Ninians PS.
Boys Turbo Javelin - 1 Scott Forbes ( Killearn); 2 Calum Shannon (Newton); 3 Adam Elder (Drymen). Girls Turbo Javelin - 1 Natasha Logan (Riverside); 2 Evie Hyndlands ( Balfron); 3 Eva Beck (Gargunnock).
Boys Long Jump - 1 Sam Raikadroka (Queen Victoria School); 2 Mitchell Stars ( Newton); 3 Ben Isgrove (Callander). Girls Long Jump - 1 Tilde Murru (Bridge of Allan); 2 Katie Fabel (Strathblane); 3 Jennifer McPherson (Beaconhurst School).
Overall school team winners were Newton PS.
