Top cyclists compete in Crit Under the Castle

Young Stirling Bike Club rider Rhona Callander will be defending her Scottish Youth Road Race Championsh­ip when Crit Under the Castle takes place in Stirling on Sunday.

The Scottish Cycling National Criterium and Youth Road Race Championsh­ips will see more than 300 of the country’s top riders compete in the closed road cycle racing extravagan­za around Stirling city centre.

The fast paced 1.18 mile circuit incorporat­es cobbled climbs and fast descents that will put both the senior and youth riders to the test.

Stirling rider Rhona, who has been dominating the ScottishPo­wer Youth Series this season, will be defending her title.

Craig Burn, Scottish Cycling’s Chief Executive said:“Scottish Cycling are delighted that the Scottish Cycling National Championsh­ips are taking place in Stirling, with a spectacula­r finish at Stirling Castle.

“This is a chance for the best riders throughout the country to come together and compete for a coveted National Championsh­ip title on one of our many great courses we have here in Scotland.

“Scottish Cycling would like to thank organiser Norrie Petrie, Stirling Bike Club and Stirling Council for hosting the event as well as all the volunteers, officials and riders who make events like this possible.”

Crit Under The Castle race HQ will be at the Albert Hall with racing beginning at 12.30pm. Spectators are welcome.
