Artists open their studios
Rural artists are amongst those inviting the public to have a behind the scenes look at their work.
This year more rural artists and crafts people than ever before will be celebrating their talents and exhibiting during Forth Valley’s Open Studios event, many for the first time. There will be a diverse and interesting range of work on show, including paintings, cabinet making, ceramics, photography, weaving, mosaic work and jewellery
This popular annual event, which runs until Sunday (June 14), offers an opportunity to meet artists, discuss ideas and techniques, and to buy or commission work directly from them.
Artist Katherine Cowtan said:“It is a way of making art more accessible to a wider public, who are often afraid they may not like it or think they might not understand it. “Visitors find themselves surprised by how much they like and enjoy what they see. Many of the rural venues are in idyllic locations, so you may find yourself on a journey of adventure and discovery.”
Studois taking part include the Dovetail bespoke joinery at The Family Tree near Fintry and Katherine’s studio at Knochraich Farm. Look out for other venues on the way in Thornhill, Kippen, Balfron or Killearn.
