Bruce lifts silverware
Inter-House Competition
The Inter-House Trophy was awarded to Bruce House at the Junior Awards Ceremony.
The new competition is underway and sports day totals will be added in.
Sports days for the whole school take place this week, including the much-requested return of the Senior Sports Day.
S4 are involved in an extra-special event on Monday and Tuesday at Lornshill Academy. Not only will this be the House Sports Competition, it will also be the added value unit for National 4 and National 5 presentations.
Eco News
Despite the coldest May for 20 years, pupils have been hard at work propagating the raised beds at Tillicoultry Allotments. The project, now in its fifth year, aims to link the curricular themes of Health and Wellbeing, Sustainability and Enterprise.
The school has gained the Royal Horticultural Society Gardens for Schools Award and is aiming for its Green Flag from Keep Scotland Beautiful.
Parent Council
Monday was the last meeting for this session. After a session on E-safety from Kaye Hills and Anne Salter and a consultation on proposals for Abercromby Primary, led by Iain McGhee, a presentation was made to Neil MacFarlane, the outgoing chairperson, and David Wilson.
Both of these men have given sterling service to the school over many years and thanks go to them. New members are urgently required – look out for the date of the first meeting of the new session.
Charity news
Several events in support of Nepal took place on Thursday and Friday of last week. The staff soup and sandwich lunch was a big success as was the danceathon.
Members of Interact took part in a sponsored walk and combined totals will be shared next week.
Junior Awards Ceremony
The ceremony took place on Thursday, June 4 and many thanks to all who attended. Musical items were provided by Lorne Brownlie, Jack Mather, Alanna Whyte, Brooke Russell and Anna Reeves. Live Tweets were sent out from the event.
