Hot wheels Paul is on the right track

-

Callander- based racing team Dreadnought Racing returned to action recently, when they headed south for the second round of the MG Trophy Championship.

A successful start to the day saw driver Paul Luti land pole position for race one, despite completing just two laps during the session.

He said: “We didn’t expect to bank overall pole position.

“We still have a lot to learn with the new car, so to claim pole after just two laps in only our second round, we were thrilled.”

As the team headed into race one Paul took his spot at the head of the field.

A commanding launch stood him in good stead as the field rounded turn one.

laps disappeared, Paul collected a third in class finish.

He said: “There was mud everywhere, but it was great fun. The car felt slow and it was later discovered that the lambda sensor plug in the down pipe had fallen out.”

Some more hard work from the team saw a change in the set- up before race two.

After starting from the back of the grid due to a limited number of completed laps in qualifying, Paul was faced with a mountain to climb.

Despite the disadvantage, another good start saw him make up a number of places on the opening tour.

The action was halted abruptly when an incident at the final chicane caused a race stoppage.

A full restart sent Paul back to his last place grid slot, as he once again attempted to make up positions. Another speedy getaway saw him wrestle important positions away from his rivals in a shortened race, before settling with a sixth in class result and ninth overall.

Paul said: “We’re now focused on our biggest event of the season, MG Live at Silverstone.”

MG Live is the biggest MG event in the world and takes place on June 20-21.
