Plan to help pupils do better in school

-

A plan aimed at improving the success of school pupils in the Wee County has been revealed.

Clackmannanshire Council has outlined The Scottish Attainment Challenge, which will focus on primary schools and target improvements in literacy, numeracy and health and wellbeing. It will try to bridge the gap between the most and least advantaged communities.

The project will also encourage collaboration between schools, and build and strengthen partnerships between teachers, schools, pupils, parents, communities, employers and a range of other partners.

Councillor Ellen Forson, Convener of Education, Sport and Leisure said: “We have already started work in Clackmannanshire to raise performance and learning outcomes, giving extra support to schools as part of Improvement Partnerships and focussing on improving attainment, and this extra support from the Scottish Government’s Raising Attainment Fund is very welcome.

“Building on the foundation of Curriculum for Excellence, our education service has already submitted an improvement plan to the Scottish Government who will meet with them to discuss plans, resources and ongoing monitoring. I am confident this extra support and focus will help us ensure we support young people to help the very best of their talents.”
