Wee County elects new councillors
A Community Council has been elected to represent a Wee County town.
The interim election for Tullibody, Cambus and Glenochil has been concluded and the five new community councillors, who have been elected unopposed, will take up their positions with immediate effect.
The next regular meeting of the community council will be next Wednesday ( June 24) at 7pm in the Civic Centre.
Provost Tina Murphy said: “I congratulate the new members of the community council and wish them well with the work ahead of them. Together with the four existing members this brings the total membership up to nine. This will allow the community council to resume the valuable work it does in representing its community, particularly at this busy time for the Tullibody, Cambus and Glenochil community as work progresses on the improvements to Tron Court and in the plans to re-develop primary school and civic centre provision in the area.
“For Clackmannanshire, this means that we continue to have an active community bouncil representing all areas. Clackmannanshire Council recognises community councils as an important channel of communication about what matters to their community and the important role community councils have in gathering and presenting the views of the people who live and work within our communities.”
The nomination stage is the first stage of the election process. As the number of nominations received did not exceed the actual number of vacancies the election is uncontested and concludes at this stage.
The five councillors elected are: Josephine Clark, Arthur Duncan, Elaine Duncan, John Mitchell and Janice Muir.
